Newswise — This month, the Olympic games will return to their origins when Athens hosts the games of the XXVVIII Olympiad. Greece was the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games and the first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896.

Stephen Brunet, associate professor and coordinator of the classics program at the University of New Hampshire, is available to comment on the features of the ancient Olympics that continue on in the modern Olympics and those that have been lost (e.g. ancient athletes competed in the nude).

Brunet compared today's auto racing to chariot racing, the most popular sporting event of the ancient world, in a special on The Learning Channel.
