Newswise — One of the nation's leading authorities on campaigns and elections will address the UC San Diego Social Sciences Supper Club on January 30, when there will be less than a week to go just before primaries are held on "Super Tuesday" in 23 states including California. Professor Gary Jacobson, of the UCSD Department of Political Science, will review the presidential campaign up to that point, provide advance perspectives on the Feb. 5 "Super Tuesday" contests and weigh main considerations that are likely to determine outcomes as the election year progresses.

Jacobson is a highly respected election analyst and an expert on American national politics whose research focuses on Congress, California elections, public opinion, campaign finance and party politics. His views on the 2008 elections have been widely quoted across the nation and around the globe.

The Social Sciences Supper Club, which will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Faculty Club on the UCSD campus, is open to the public for a fee of $65 per person, which includes the presentation, dinner and parking.
