Newswise — Mount Saint Mary College will confer 554 degrees during

its 42nd annual commencement ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (May 21).

Dan Zevin, author, humorist and journalism professor, will deliver the address. The Mount will confer 423 bachelor's and 131 master's degrees.

The Mount will confer the honorary degree of doctor of humane letters on Zevin and Arthur E. Weintraub, president of the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association (NorMet).

Zevin has written three books, whose titles reveal his irreverent take on life: The Day I Turned Uncool: Confessions of a Reluctant Grown-up, Nearly-Wed Handbook: How to Survive the Happiest Day of Your Life; and Entry-Level Life: A Complete Guide to Masquerading as a Member of the Real World.

He is also a freelance journalist and has written articles for Rolling Stone and Glamour among others. He was a correspondent for Boston's National Public Radio station, WBUR. He teaches journalism at New York University.

Weintraub will retire this month after 23 years of leading NorMet, which provides a wide range of health policy and support services to the 31 hospitals in the seven-county Hudson Valley region. He has held other leadership positions in the region including executive director of the Hudson Valley Healthy Systems Agency; senior vice president of Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress, Inc.; and chief of Long Range Planning for the Tri-State Regional Planning Commission.

The ceremony will be held outdoors under a tent on Kaplan Field.
