Newswise — Former Senator Bob Graham, who chaired the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence during the 9/11 attacks and in the months leading up to the Iraq War, will discuss past and present national intelligence failures during a talk Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 3:30 p.m. in Bozorth Hall Auditorium at Rowan University, 201 Mullica Hill Road, Glassboro, N.J.

Former Senator and Governor of Florida, Graham will discuss "National Intelligence Estimate: What Went Wrong" in a guest lecture as part of Rowan's lecture series to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the historic Hollybush Summit in Glassboro.

Graham's appearance comes on the heels of the National Intelligence Estimate released yesterday indicating that Iran stopped its nuclear weapons program in 2003. Halting the nuclear program has been an important element of President George W. Bush's foreign policy efforts.

In addition to discussing past national intelligence failures, Graham also will share his views on what Congress, the Executive branch, and state and local law enforcement should be doing today.

While chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Graham co-sponsored the bill to create the Director of National Intelligence and co-chaired the "Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks on Sept. 11, 2001."

In 2004, he penned Intelligence Matters, which revealed serious faults in the U.S. national security system.
