Newswise — Premise Health, a leading worksite health and patient engagement company, partnered with the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) to engage and educate its nationwide nurse population in AAOHN’s first virtual conference spotlighting occupational health, environmental health and safety practices.
The conference, themed “Leading the Future: Endless Possibilities in Occupational and Environmental Health,” featured eight concurrent live-streamed sessions at the event in Jacksonville, Florida, April 11-14. Topics covered included health and productivity risk management, workplace wellness and the power of prevention, and travel vaccines and global disease, as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) updates from U. S. Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health David Michaels, PhD, MPH. Participating Premise Health nurses were awarded 15.25 continuing nursing education (CNE) credits toward state-mandated licensure requirements.

For individuals not able to travel due to professional and personal commitments, virtual conferences are gaining popularity. “The AAOHN 2016 National Conference explored the unlimited possibilities that exist for occupational and environmental health nurses, including current and cutting-edge best practices and the latest technology and resources for fostering a culture of health and safety,” said AAOHN President Jeannie Tomlinson, MSN, RN, COHN-S, FAAOHN. “Offering our members and guests the option and flexibility to participate via streaming video was an important step toward leveraging technology to help nurses improve the management of their occupational and environmental health and safety practice.”
