Newswise — This year's job market looks to be one of the most promising in recent years for college graduates, with companies reporting an increase in expected hiring from the Class of 2007. Matthew Brink, director of Saint Joseph's Career Development Center, scores this year's market as an eight out of 10 and says that we're hitting the peak in what he sees as a seven-year cycle. "It's a very strong entry-level market," he says, "and students for the first time in years could have several offers to choose from."

Brink has also noted a spike in the number of on-campus recruiters at SJU this year as compared to previous years; an annual job fair held on campus last month brought more than 200 employers—the University's highest number ever.

As for advice to seniors looking for the perfect job, Brink says, "Focus most of your job search efforts on networking rather than limiting your search to job related web-sites. Most employers indicate that over 60 percent of those they hire come from a networking source and not a Web site."
