Seattle Cancer Care Alliance’s Specialty Store “Shine” Urges Shopping for a Cause this Holiday SeasonProceeds from purchases support unique patient programs at SCCA

Newswise — SEATTLE – “Shine,” a cancer specialty store and neighborhood mercantile encourages people to “Shop for a Cause” this holiday season. Owned and operated by Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), the 2,000-square-foot store includes cancer specialty items as well as kitchenware, jewelry, games and novelties for all ages.

“We’ve created a giving centric atmosphere,” said Eileen Hood, store manager, Shine. “Knowing that your purchase goes directly into stocking the pantry at the SCCA House or providing yoga lessons to a patient is an extremely gratifying feeling.”

In light of the holiday season, Shine will be participating in “Fa La La Friday’s,” where merchandise will be reduced by 20 percent on Fridays in December. Products include clothing options, a variety of books, jewelry, magazines, greeting cards and sundries. “Shine provides a gender and cancer neutral environment in a boutique setting aimed to help patients and their families normalize shopping for items to help them through treatment and recovery,” said Erica Karlovits, program manager, Shine. “We love to see the community shop at Shine for gifts and everyday items as the proceeds support SCCA’s unique programs. Our store is meant for anyone who believes in supporting the fight against cancer.”

Shine in located at 207 Pontius Ave. N., Suite 101, Seattle, on the first floor of the SCCA House. It is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shine is the big sister component to the Rain or Shine gift shop at the SCCA’s outpatient clinic on the campus of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
