SIMON SCHOOL REPORTS 65% INCREASE IN RECRUITMENT ACTIVITY
Demand for M.B.A.s Continues to Rise

Rochester, N.Y.--December 15, 1997--The robust economy that created 2.3 million new jobs(*) over the past year is sending corporate recruiters to business school campuses with a vigor that exceeds the M.B.A. frenzy of the '80s. According to the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, the continued strong demand for M.B.A. graduates lifted recruitment activity on its campus by 65 percent over last year. Simon's dramatic rise--more than triple last year's 17 percent increase--compares with estimated increases of 20 to 40 percent at other business schools across the country.

According to Lee A. Junkans, assistant dean for career services at Simon, the School's growing popularity with corporate recruiters is being fueled by increased interest in M.B.A. graduates with both critical management skills and a global view. "Recruiters are realizing that we have a larger international student body than other leading M.B.A. programs, coupled with a curriculum that incorporates leadership skills and a unique and intense teamwork experience," says Junkans. "This means we not only help students find the best opportunity, we better equip them with the tools for success."

According to Todd Garrett, group vice president and corporate officer of the Proctor & Gamble Company, Simon's approach--which marries a global perspective with disciplined problem solving--is critical for companies that are moving from regional markets to globalization. "Our experience suggests that the careers of Simon alums really take off," says Garrett, who places the retention rate of Simon grads by P & G at 75 percent . "This is significantly higher than other business schools," he says.

Areas of recruitment seeing the biggest gains at the Simon School this year are: financial services, at 83 percent; consulting, at 78 percent; manufacturing, at 50 percent; and service industries, at 50 percent.
