Newswise — Krista Tippett, host of Minnesota Public Radio's (MPR) "Speaking of Faith," will deliver the commencement address at the College of Saint Benedict at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in the Haehn Campus Center Field House on the CSB campus.

Elena (Ellie) Jelsing, a natural science and pre-medicine major from Mora, Minn., will be the student commencement speaker, as selected by this year's CSB senior class. The 2004 CSB graduation class includes 468 students, and combined with Saint John's graduating class of 473 undergraduate men, this year's undergraduate class of 941 will be the largest combined class in the schools' history.

Tippett, a journalist and former diplomat, is a graduate of Brown University, a former Fulbright Scholar and has a master's of divinity from Yale University. She has reported and written for numerous international news organizations, including the New York Times, Newsweek, the International Herald Tribune, Die Zeit and the BBC. While at Yale, she worked as a chaplain to Alzheimer's patients and was involved in the creation and management of programs for the homeless and inner-city children in New Haven and Philadelphia.

"Speaking of Faith" is a one-hour show distributed nationally by Public Radio International. Each week, the program focuses on a different theme, asking writers and theologians to discuss how religion shapes everyday life.
