U.S.-China-Taiwan Analyst John F. Copper to Present Latest Analysis of the Taiwan-China Conflict

World leaders continue to watch Taiwan and in the wake of disastrous earthquakes recently, many wonder what political disasters may lie ahead. Author and Rhodes College Professor of International Studies John F. Copper has just published two books on Taiwan. His 25th book, "As Taiwan Approaches the New Millennium: Essays on Politics and Foreign Affairs," provides a better understanding of the conflict between Beijing and Taipei.

His "Taiwan: Nation, State or Province," just released in its third edition, assesses Taiwan's status, a more urgent question in the wake of President Lei Teng-hui's statement that negotiations between Taipei and Beijing must be on a nation-to-nation basis and China's hostile reaction.

Copper is a recognized expert on U.S.-China-Taiwan issues and has testified before both Senate and House committees.

He will present a briefing and be available for questions and analysis on the Taiwan situation,

Wednesday, October 13, 9 a.m-10:30 a.m., in the Washington Room at the Marriott Metro Center, 775 12th St. N.W., Washington, D.C.
