Texas Builds a Better Way to Launch a New Career

Austin, Texas, February 2, 1998æTexas now has one of the country's most advanced and professional environments for moving new graduates into the workplace with the grand opening of its new Corporate Interviewing Center on Thursday, February 5.

Each spring, senior undergraduates and master's candidates cast off from the Texas Business School to embark on new careers in business throughout Texas, the United States and the world. In an effort to make the frantic and harrowing process a little more civilized for everyone involved, the School has translated recruiter and student wish lists into a modern, professional, and appropriate setting that is sure to showcase its student talent in the best light possible.

Previously, the School's aging and unaccommodating recruiting amenities made it difficult for company representatives to carry on high-quality dialogues with potential recruits. "Over the past several years, the level of recruiting activity grew so much as to exceed the school's capacity," says Rolf Russart, the leader of college relations for Ford. "Everyone dreaded being stuck in one of those open- topped cubicles where you might as well be conducting a group interview."

With recruiting season starting in February, the Center comes on-line just in time to make a big difference for 1998 graduates searching for jobs.

Come to the ribbon cutting of the School's new 10,000 sq. ft. Corporate Interviewing Center and see what hundreds of company recruiters and Texas Business School students are so excited about. Dean Robert G. May and company representatives from 3M, Applied Materials, EDS, Enron, Dell, Ford, Kellogg's, National Instruments, Price Waterhouse, XEROX, Foley's, and more will be available for comment.
