Newswise — In research: Haas Assistant Professor Zsolt Katona studies social network marketing. A recent press release on his paper, "Network Effects and Personal Influences: Diffusion of an Online Social Network," was number one on Newswise's monthly access counts report for receiving almost 2000 views. http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/news/faculty/katona.html.

In class instruction: Haas Professor John Morgan has a blog just for his game theory class that's very popular. Morgan says," I was tired of all the emails I received reminding me about this and that. I figured my class probably was as well, so I created a class blog to provide updates about what we're covering in class, takeaways from classes, and other interesting stuff that I happened to run across. Apparently, a class blog is somewhat unusual (or so my students tell me anyway)." http://gametheory211.blogspot.com/.

In admissions: The Haas School was a pioneer in using blogs and a wide range of podcasts in the MBA admissions process.

In student blogging: Since Haas used blogs to recruit applicants to its MBA program, the blogging culture has taken off. Full-time MBA students blog about their international consulting projects and about getting into bschool. Part-time MBA students write about juggling work, school, and life. Undergraduates review what they've learned in school. Haas Ideas in Action is a new blog in which students write about their most innovative Haas projects: http://haasideasinaction.blogspot.com/.

In other networks: MBA blogs; Facebook; YouTube; iTunes; LinkedIn; Twitter. The school was also among the first to share its videos on its own YouTube and iTunes channels. And in two months, the school's daily tweets have gained nearly 1,000 Twitter followers "¦ and counting.
