Newswise — Tufts University's Department of Economics will host the 2009 Northeast Universities Development Consortium (NEUDC) Conference on Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8.

The internationally recognized conference, which first began in 1967, is a major forum in development economics. Almost 100 leading economics professors and scholars from institutions around the world will exchange ideas about research in a range of areas including microfinance, literacy, nutrition and immigration. The conference rotates among the organizing institutions: Boston University, Brown University, Cornell University, Harvard University, Tufts University, Williams College and Yale University.

Speakers will include faculty from the University of Milan, the London School of Economics, Oxford University and also Tufts University faculty. The conference starts at 9 a.m. and will be held at the Cabot Intercultural Center at Tufts University, 170 Packard Ave., Medford.
