Newswise — Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer of Microsoft, Cynthia Marshall, president of AT&T North Carolina, and Mirsad Hadzikadic, director of UNC Charlotte's North Carolina Complex Systems Institute, will headline the list of speakers at the North Carolina Technology Association's statewide conference in Charlotte.

The conference, entitled: "Leaders Driving Change Through Technology: What's Next?" will be held on Friday, June 19, UNC Charlotte's College of Computing and Informatics announced.

Hadzikadic left his position as dean of the College of Computing and Informatics last year to become the first director of UNC Charlotte's North Carolina Complex Systems Institute (NCCSI), which is currently in development. During his keynote address, Hadzikadic will highlight the mission and goals of the NCCSI.

NCCSI is anticipated to be an institute that will involve partnerships with other institutions both in the United States and abroad. It also will include substantial commercialization and economic development capabilities as well as professional education at the master's level and continuing education. The computation simulation technology that will be developed will not only serve the military and defense contractors but will have commercial applications as well, particularly for financial and healthcare institutions.

The conference will draw leaders in technology and business from across North Carolina. Speakers will discuss leaders driving change, disruptive change, workforce readiness, and the impact and opportunities from the stimulus plan.
