Newswise — Western Illinois University Emergency Management Assistant Professor Jack Rozdilsky specializes in natural hazards and emergency management issues. He is active in disaster field research and his work focuses on social and physical aspects of long-term disaster recovery. He has assisted with the management of domestic disasters including the 1993 Mississippi River Floods, 2005 Hurricane Katrina and the 2007 Greensburg, KS, Tornado.

Rozdilsky also participates in overseas research on issues related to volcanic disaster recovery in the Caribbean and Mexico, emergency management in Israel and environmentally forced migration.

He holds Bachelor of Science degrees (1992) in geology and in environmental science from Bradley University. His Master of Arts degree (1995) in environmental studies is from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and his Ph.D. in resource deveolpment and urban studies (2005) is from Michigan State University.

Western's emergency management program is housed within the health sciences department and is the only undergraduate degree program of its type in Illinois.
