ADA Scientific Journal, Membership Newspaper Claim Top Honors

CHICAGO--The Society of National Association Publications (SNAP) selected The Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) and the ADA News as recipients of a 2001 Gold and Silver Award in the categories of scholarly journal and association newspaper, respectively. SNAP is a non-profit professional society serving association publishers and communications professionals across the country.

The ADA publications were selected from among 850 entries in SNAP's 2001 awards competition. JADA received the 2001 Gold Award for general excellence in a scholarly journal. The ADA News received the 2001 Silver Award for general excellence among association newspapers. Each ADA publication has a circulation of 140,000.

"On behalf of the ADA and its members, I convey our heartiest congratulations to JADA and the ADA News on receiving these awards," said ADA President Robert M. Anderton, D.D.S., J.D. "These publications continue to be the major source of news and information for dental professionals. Our most sincere appreciation goes to Dr. Lawrence H. Meskin, editor, and the entire publications staff for a job well done."

First published in 1913 as "The Bulletin of the National Dental Association," JADA was renamed after the association changed its name to the American Dental Association in 1922. ADA News was first published in 1970.
