Newswise — More than 3,000 scientists from around the world will meet at the International Annual Meetings of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). The U.S. Canola Research Conference is a featured event held in conjunction with the ASA-CSSA-SSSA Annual Meetings. Attendees will discover the latest research advances, learn from stimulating speakers and experts; share ideas, successes, and challenges with peers; access more than 2,500 poster/oral papers; meet the leaders in the field; and see the latest scientific products and services in the Exhibit Hall. The event will be held Nov. 12-16, 2006 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

Highlights of presentation topics include: "¢ Agriculture—fertilizer use, wine production, water use, organic farming, gardening"¢ Health—essential nutrients, pathogens, antibiotics, world hunger"¢ Urban Ecosystems—urban planning, soil erosion, golf course management"¢ Environment—soil erosion, greenhouse gas, hazardous waste, climate change, biofuels"¢ Breakthrough Science—biosecurity, transgenic crops, genomics, and plant breeding

The Annual Meetings activities begin Sunday, Nov. 12 at 7pm with the keynote speaker, Gene Kahn, Vice President of Sustainable Development for General Mills, who will discuss, "In Search of Sustainability." A full slate of technical sessions during the week are scheduled through noon on Thursday, Nov. 16, including research presentations, lectureships, award presentations, and product/service demonstrations and exhibits.
