LOS ANGELES (July 31, 1998)- World-renowned brain surgeon Keith L. Black, M.D., and his colleagues in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Neurosurgical Institute invite their patients and families to a Brain Tumor Support Group Open House featuring educational lectures, screenings for depression and anxiety, and a preview of new support groups that will be facilitated by Cedars-Sinai psychologists and Wellness Community(r) counselors. The event will launch a monthly series of programs that will combine updates on the latest medical advances in brain tumor research and treatments, as well as psychological support groups for patients and their loved ones.

The Open House will be held Wednesday Aug. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Harvey Morse Auditorium, 8700 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles.

The physical and psychological challenges confronting brain tumor patients and their families and friends can be overwhelming. This program will offer an update on the latest in treatment options by Neurosurgical Institute physicians, including radiation, chemotherapy, and future strategies using gene therapy and immunology.
