WHAT: "The Growing Menace: High-Tech Crime, Cyber Terror and Information Warfare at the Dawn of the New Millennium," the 13th annual International Symposium on Criminal Justice Issues sponsored by the Office of International Criminal Justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
WHEN: Aug. 5-7, 1998 (daily sessions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
WHERE: Amoco Building, Indiana Room Auditorium (lower level), 200 E. Randolph, Chicago
DESCRIPTION: Plenary and breakout sessions will feature internationally recognized authorities in areas such as cyber terror, national security, hate and pornography on the Internet, military implications, investigative techniques, forensic data acquisition and analysis, prosecution, private sector-law enforcement interaction, network security, international cooperation, training and education.
The symposium coordinator is William Tafoya, director of research and training in UIC's Office of International Criminal Justice and a former FBI agent, who was the first to make use of the Internet and World Wide Web in a criminal investigation.
