Mathematical Aspects of Quantum Adiabatic Approximation

Perimeter Institute will be hosting this new event from February 9th -11th, 2006. Participants include experts on rigorous proofs of the adiabatic theorem, phase transitions in NP-complete problems, and random matrix theory, as well as adiabatic computation. Details available online.

Introduction to Quantum Gravity

This weekly, ongoing course serves as an introduction to background independent quantum theories of gravity, with a focus on loop quantum gravity and related approaches. Playbacks are available on-line.

Lisa Randall at PI

Dr. Lisa Randall, Harvard University, will lead a scientific discussion for Institute residents on March 2, 2006. In addition, Dr. Randall will provide a PI Public Lecture on Wednesday, March 1st at 7:00 p.m. The monthly outreach talks attract over 600 people per occasion. Past events are available to view online.

Evolving Laws Discussion

Now online. A small group of scholars representing several fields convened at PI for two days in August of 2005 to discuss a topic that intrigued all of them: do the laws of nature have to be fixed and eternal, or could they evolve in time? New audio playbacks are now available via the website.

About PI

Canada's Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is a non-profit scientific research and educational outreach organization located in Waterloo, Ontario - just outside Toronto. The award winning centre is home to a diverse group of international scientists from around the world who push the limits of our understanding of space, time and matter.
