MRI Imaging of Fetal Brain, Virtual Reality Diagnosis, Highlight American Roentgen Ray Society Meeting in San Francisco

Studies ranging from ultra-fast MRI imaging of the fetal brain to virtual reality technology will be presented at the 98th Annual American Roentgen Ray Society Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held in San Francisco, April 26 - May 1 at the San Francisco Hilton.

Highlights of the meeting include:

Monday, April 27

10:24 AM Covered stents are a minimally invasive alternative to surgery in treating arterial wall defects.

10:24 AM A new type of open magnetic resonance imaging system, called Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MRT), is making it possible for physicians to watch joints in motion and reach into the unit to perform joint examinations on patients during scanning.

1:30 PM Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) shows greater detail in the fetal brain than ultrasound. Faster speed is the key to improved diagnosis.

Tuesday, April 28

11:36 AM MRI is a useful tool in evaluating hard-to-read mammograms.

12:12 PM Cost Effectiveness of Carotid Color-Flow-Doppler in Comparison with Carotid Angiography: When Can Less Be More?

Wednesday, April 29

2:18 PM New virtual reality technology is making it possible for doctors to "fly" into a body organ and to practice surgery before actually performing it, as well as plan treatments for a variety of urinary problems.

2:42 PM Computers can help radiologists make more accurate diagnoses of breast cancer and reduce the number of biopsies.

Thursday, April 30

11:12 AM Extended Field of View 2-D Ultrasound Applications for Breast Imaging enhance diagnosis.

The press room will be in Union Square 20, the San Francisco Hilton. It is scheduled to be open 9 am - 5 pm April 26-April 29. You can obtain a badge in the press room which will allow you access to any of the scheduled events. If you would like advance copies of the abstracts please call (703) 648-8928.
