The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has been recognized by the National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) for its excellent preparation of future teachers in how to teach reading. UA Little Rock earned an A grade in NCTQ’s new report, “Teacher Prep Review: Strengthening Elementary Reading Instruction.” UA Little Rock is among just 23 percent nationwide to earn an A from NCTQ for meeting standards set by literacy experts for coverage of the most effective methods of reading instruction—often called the “science of reading.

David M. Mussafer, a Tulane graduate who serves as chairman and managing partner of Advent International, one of the largest and most experienced global private equity investors, has been named chair-elect of the Board of Tulane, the university’s main governing body. Chulalongkorn University has made the world’s top 50 university list for employment outcomes, which reflects both the high employment rate and work ability of Chula graduates. COVID-19 wreaked havoc on K-12 and postsecondary education across the U.S. Test scores in foundational subject areas such as reading and math fell to their lowest levels in decades, absenteeism worsened, and students were more likely to drop out of high school and less likely to pursue post-secondary education. More than 8,200 students and their families will attend University of California, Irvine commencement ceremonies between Friday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 20, in the campus’s Bren Events Center. Overall, UCI will grant 8,966 degrees to 8,507 undergraduates this academic year. Additionally, 1,815 master’s degrees and 393 doctoral degrees will be awarded.
