Einstein Montefiore Bioethicist Helped Shape New Institute of Medicine Report on Staging Antibiotics for Possible Anthrax Attack
Albert Einstein College of MedicineThe Institute of Medicine (IOM) released a report last Friday that provides guidance to U.S. public health officials to develop plans to pre-position antibiotics that can be distributed to the general public in the case of a large-scale anthrax attack. Tia Powell, M.D., director of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics and the Einstein Cardozo Masters of Science in Bioethics program, was vice-chair of the 16-member Committee Prepositioned Medical Countermeasures for the Public, which issued the report.
