NSF DIRECTOR TO SPEAK AT NATIONAL PRESS CLUB
NSF Director Neal Lane is scheduled to speak at a National Press Club (NPC) luncheon later this month. The event is timed to coincide with the celebration of National Science and Technology Week (April 20-26), an annual public outreach program aimed at highlighting the role of science in people's everyday lives.
In a speech titled "Double Helixes and Double-Edged Swords: Cloning and the Conundrum of Scientific Success," Lane will discuss the problems and choices generated by this new scientific discovery, and its implications for science literacy and public discourse.
Interested journalists who are NPC members should follow normal procedure for NPC luncheons. Members of the working press who are not NPC members may cover the speech from the gallery, free of charge. (No reservation is required for gallery seats, but journalists are encouraged to contact NSF in advance for background information.)
