Newswise — Dateline Health, NSU’s award-winning public service TV program will hit its 300th episode on Dec. 27.

The 300th episode will feature the topic of equine therapy, hands-on therapy sessions in which horses assist clients with life and relationship challenges. The guests will include Shelley Green, Ph.D., NSU professor of family therapy and training director for Stable Foundations, an independent, equine-assisted psychotherapy program; and Lorisa Lewis, M.S., L.M.H.C., program director of Stable Foundations, who is internationally certified in equine-assisted psychotherapy.

This milestone episode will air on the Broward Education Communication Network (BECON) TV on from Monday, Dec. 27 to Sunday Jan. 16, 2011. It will also air on select Comcast, AT&T U-verse, satellite Direct TV, and Dish Networks.

“We are extremely proud of this significant achievement,” said Fred Lippman, R.Ph., Ed.D, host of Dateline Health and chancellor of NSU’s Health Professions Division. “This would not have been possible without the hard work of the NSU team. This episode will highlight one of the best kept secrets in Broward County: equine therapy offer by the Family Therapy Program at NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences.”

Dateline Health is a 30-minute service program dedicated to promoting the community’s overall health and quality of life, covering a wide range of contemporary health care issues through interviews with health care experts, researchers, and policy makers.

“It’s a unique locally-produced show that has received a lot of positive feedback from our viewers,” said Phyllis Schiffer-Simon, Ph.D., general manager of BECON TV. “The information it provides is very helpful.”

The show airs on BECON, COMCAST and AT&T U-verse cable channels and Direct TV and Dish Network seven days a week throughout the tri-county area, reaching over five million viewers in the community.

Dateline Health was a Telly Award winner during the 29th Annual Telly Awards for excellence in the educational video/film category. The Telly Awards is an international competition that receives over 14,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries.

The awards honor the top local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web. It is a tremendous achievement to be selected for recognition.

Two Dateline Health programs were recognized as winners: one show on pet therapy featuring Humane Society pets and volunteers and the other on gamma knife neurosurgery innovations featuring prominent South Florida surgeons.
