AACC presents:

"Pharmacogenomics: Improving Pharmacotherapy & Avoiding ADRs"

The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) is offering this critical conference, providing vital information regarding pharmacogenomics, on May 9-10, 2002, at the Double Tree Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. Produced in cooperation with AACC's Molecular Pathology and TDM/Toxicology Divisions, AACC's Pharmacogenomics Committee, The Association for Molecular Pathology, The Pharmacogenomics Working Group and The College of American Pathologists.

While knowledge about the impact of genes on drug metabolism has been increasing for many years, and there has been widespread use of pharmacogenomics (PGx) in drug discovery and development, PGx is now moving into direct patient care to optimize pharmacotherapy and avoid adverse drug reactions.

The presenters currently use PGx to manage drug utilization. The program will include:

* The principles of pharmacogenomics and its utility for reducing adverse drug reactions and getting the right drug to the right patient in the right dosage faster. * How the tools of molecular pathology are used in pharmacogenomics.* The extension of therapeutic drug monitoring to include predictive drug management.* How to interpret pharmacogenomic data and apply it in patient care.* The financial, legal and ethical issues integral to pharmacogenomics.

This program is vital to pathologists, clinical and medical toxicologists, clinical lab directors, molecular pathologists, clinical pharmacists and pharmacologists, pharmaceutical scientists and everyone who wants to remain competitive in this rapidly changing environment.

We invite members of the press to attend the conference at no charge. Contact Scott Pasch at 800-892-1400 ext. 718 or [email protected] for more information.

The early registration fee (received by April 12, 2002) is $395 for AACC members and $580 for non-members. After April 12th, the registration fee is $470 for AACC members and $655 for non-members. For further details regarding the registration or the program, please contact customer service at 800-892-1400 or 202-857-0717 or visit AACC's website at http://www.aacc.org/meetings/pgx_may/register.stm
