Newswise — Faculty, staff, students and members of the Western Illinois University community have the opportunity to support organic crop research, pick up a stocking stuffer or holiday gift this season and show school spirit -- all with one little bag of popcorn. WIU's School of Agriculture is once again selling its Rocky Popcorn, purple and gold (WIU's colors) popcorn, grown on WIU's Allison Organic Research and Demonstration Farm in Warren County (IL).

Available in microwaveable bags, Rocky Popcorn is available for $2 per bag; a box of 24 bags is available for $40. For those who prefer the "old-school" way of preparing their popcorn, half-pound plastic bags of Rocky Popcorn are also available for $2 per bag. Larger quantities are available for $2 per pound, upon request.

According to WIU Faculty Member Joel Gruver, all proceeds support the School of Ag's organic research program, through which other other organic crops (also grown on the Allison Farm) are available for purchase. Hard wheat, soft wheat and tofu soybeans are available for $1.50 per pound for quantities under 10 pounds and $1 per pound for quantities 10 pounds and above. Gruver noted that deliveries are available for larger orders.
