Newswise — SEATTLE – Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) doctors were recently honored by a judging panel of their peers for providing outstanding cancer care. In the annual Top Doctors lists announced by Seattle Met and Seattle Magazine, 27 SCCA physicians were recognized as top-performing medical practitioners in the Puget Sound region. Seattle Magazine recognized 14 SCCA doctors in their July “Top Doctors” issue, while 14 SCCA doctors were featured in the August “Top Doctors and Nurses 2013” issue of Seattle Met magazine.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from Seattle Met and Seattle Magazine as a testament to the talented and dedicated doctors who make Seattle Cancer Care Alliance a well-respected leader in the region and country,” said Frederick R. Appelbaum, MD, Executive Director and President of SCCA. “At SCCA we strive to provide the best patient care possible and are determined to turn cancer patients into cancer survivors. These doctors embody these values.”

SCCA doctors listed in Seattle Magazine’s “Top Doctors 2013” issue were among 414 peer-recommended doctors in the Puget Sound region selected from 25,000 nominations. This list of physicians was based on physician responses to the question, “To whom would you send a loved one for medical care?” From the 1,100 doctors, nurses and physician’s assistants in the Seattle metropolitan area who participated in Seattle Met’s annual “Top Doctors and Nurses 2013” survey, honorees were selected by an anonymous advisory panel of administrators, doctors and nurses from local hospitals, clinics and practices, with the final list representing the top ten percent of nominations in each specialty.
