Newswise — SEATTLE – May 3, 2012 – Today, Seattle Children’s announced the appointment of Cindy Evans, RN, MN, MHA, to senior vice president of hospital operations. In this role, Evans is responsible for all aspects of outpatient ambulatory services including more than 50 specialty clinics in eight locations across Alaska and Washington; urgent care and emergency services; and diagnostic, therapeutic and support services such as radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, dietary, nutrition, and home care services. Evans will also oversee several hospital initiatives including the improvement of patient access, ambulatory growth endeavors, accreditation and regulatory compliance, and safety systems.

Evans leaves her previous role as Children’s vice president of ambulatory and regional services, and medical specialties to take on the new position. Since joining Children’s in 1997, she has helped to significantly improve patients’ access to outpatient care. This is the result of several initiatives she spearheaded during her tenure including the opening of: the Melinda French Gates Ambulatory Care Building at the main hospital, five regional satellite outpatient clinics including the Robert and Jean Reid Bellevue Clinic and Surgery Center, and most recently three urgent care clinics. She has also been instrumental in the planning for Children’s new Emergency Department slated to open in 2013 as part of the hospital’s Building Hope: Cancer and Critical Care Expansion.

“Since joining Children’s, Cindy has been a driving force in improving all aspects of patient care in our outpatient settings,” said Lisa Brandenburg, hospital president. “Her dedication to innovation and growth will continue to help Children’s deliver on its founding promise to provide expert, compassionate care to every child in our region who needs it.”

Evans has worked in Seattle-based medical centers for over 30 years. Previous to Children’s, she worked at Swedish Medical Center where she held a variety of roles including clinical director of Family Maternity Outpatient Services and nurse manager of the Mothers-Baby Unit. Prior, she worked at the University of Washington Medical Center as an obstetrics nurse.

“I have dedicated my career to improving healthcare quality and the options for children and their families,” said Evans. “In my new role, I am excited to continue working with the Children’s team to find new ways to deliver the highest quality, safest, and cost-effective care to our patients, and look forward to supporting the growth and development of our hospital leaders – those who provide care to our patients and their families on the front-line, and those who make this care possible behind the scenes.”Evans will report to Brandenburg. Elements of her previous role will be assumed by other leaders in the organization.
