Newswise — Bart Selman, professor of computer science at Cornell University, says Amazon’s proposed ‘selfie’ password is not only feasible, but could lead to other technological possibilities.

Selman says: “This patent is another example of how advances in artificial intelligence technology are accelerating and are changing the technology landscape. The proposal relies on having highly reliable face recognition software.

“Thanks to so-called deep learning methods, we now have super-human capabilities in terms of face recognition. So, it's feasible. I expect we will see other possibilities emerge, including based on voice recognition or even the way people type or the wording they use in emails.”
