Plenary Address, 9:15-10:00 a.m. titled, "Soil Science and the Challenge of Sustainable Development" "¢ Keynote speaker, Jeffrey Sachs, noted economist and author of "The End of Poverty." He is Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and serves as a Special Advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan on the Millennium Development Goals.

The World Congress of Soil Science is held from July 9-15 in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and feature presentations by soil scientists from around the world on such topics as climate change, soils and health, urban planning, crop production, hazardous waste, and more.
