American University Kogod School of Business professor DanielJacobs will attend the oral argument. Jacobs’ experience leading high-profile environmental enforcement cases on behalf of the Justice Department, and leading initiatives to protect American business interests onbehalf of the State Department, uniquely qualify him to provide fair and thoughtful analysis of the case. He isavailable pre and post argument to discuss the case’s pivotal issues and the potential implications fromlayperson and legal perspectives. William J. Snape III possesses a two decades’ long environmental legal career both teaching and in serving various NGOs dedicated to environmental advocacy. Snape has published numerous law journal articles focusing on the environment. In addition to teaching at the Washington College of Law, Snape is serving as a member of President Obama’s Trade and Environment Committee.
Jacobs commented, “This is a historic case in which states have turned to the Court for help in protecting their citizens’ health and their natural resources, in view of lagging federal regulation of carbon emissions from power plants. It will be interesting to see if the Court favors the business interests or states’ rights.”
