UC SCIENCE EXPERTS DIRECTORY LAUNCHED
If you're in the media, you know how important it is to find the precise science expert for a deadline story or feature. That effort has been made a lot easier with the creation of the University of California Science Experts directory, now available on the World Wide Web.
The directory, managed and maintained at UC San Diego, contains listings of key scientists and faculty from UC's nine campuses, medical schools and associated national laboratories. Information, including brief descriptions of a scientist's expertise and relevant contacts numbers, can be found by simply browsing through the directory, or using its search engine.
For particularly newsworthy stories, click on the "Extra" button, and you will be directed to the leading UC experts on a given topic or topics that's currently of public interest. This timely listing should be particularly valuable to those needing fast information on deadline.
Other features of the directory include links to the public information websites for each of UC's nine campuses and three national laboratories; and access to UC Newswire, which houses recent press releases on all topics from the UC system.
