Newswise — FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – The online Master’s in Public Health Program at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine was recently ranked among the 50 Most Affordable Online MPH Programs in 2015 by the Top Master’s in Healthcare Administration website.
In developing the list, Top Master’s in Healthcare Administration used the following criteria:• Online availability – Only full graduate programs (not certificates) that are available 90% or more online were considered;• Affordability – The site averaged each public school’s in-state and out-of-state rates to determine a single approximate cost, combining tuition and fees into one value.
“NSU is proud to be ranked among the best online master of public health programs in the nation,” said Cyril Blavo, D.O., M.S., M.P.H. & T.M., F.A.C.O.P., director and professor of public health, Master of Public Health Program, NSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. “A value deeply entrenched in our university is providing services to those who may not otherwise have access, and educating community leaders and health care providers in the tenets of public health is a proven way to achieve this goal.”
There has been a 23 percent increase in the number of accredited public health programs nationwide, and, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, health education, community health and other public health-related occupations are expected to grow faster than average.
NSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine’s M.P.H. program is an accredited graduate level program designed to prepare students to define, critically assess, and resolve public health problems. The program provides training in the theories, concepts and principles of public health and their application. To meet the rapidly changing needs of health service professionals, including preventive medicine specialists, the curriculum is structured to accommodate a diversity of backgrounds and individual career opportunities, including health care facilities, public health departments, and social service agencies. The program is designed to be completed in two years of full-time studies, online or in person, but students can set their own pace over a period of five years.
In addition to the Top Master’s in Healthcare Administration ranking (No. 36), NSU’s Online Public Health Program is ranked No. 17 out of the top 50 in the United States by Public Health Online in its list of the Best Online Master of Public Health (MPH) Programs for 2014-15.
