Here, Seong et al. identify an optimal set of epiblast inducers that captures mouse trophectoderm stem cells (TESCs) as a stable and highly self-renewing state reflecting the blastocyst stage. TESCs have enhanced capacity to form blastoids that induce deciduae formation more efficiently in utero due to WNT6/7B secretion.
