KIDNEY WEEK 2018

Newswise — Washington, DC (September 20, 2018)—Scientists, clinicians, and other members of the international kidney health community will join forces in sunny southern California this October 23–28 for the American Society of Nephrology’s (ASN) Kidney Week 2018. Held in San Diego, this largest event of its kind offers a forum to share and hear advances in basic, clinical, and translational research, and to discover the latest innovations in clinical practice.

Organizers expect more than 13,000 participants at the annual gathering that supports improvements in the lives of more than 40 million Americans and millions more around the world living with kidney diseases.

This year’s theme—Transforming Nephrology Through Precision Health—offers opportunities to listen to engaging and provocative discussions with leading experts in the field, to exchange knowledge, to connect with fellow professionals, and discover the latest in scientific and medical advances.

Attendees will find more than 170 educational sessions featuring the world’s leading kidney health experts sharing highlights of global scientific innovation and clinical advances in nephrology. Kidney Week also features approximately 400 oral abstracts and 3,500 posters detailing new discoveries. Nearly 150 organizations will exhibit in the Scientific Exposition area.

Participants can also attend 10 early programs that offer updates on critical care, dialysis, glomerular diseases, transplantation, organoids, PKD, and more. Four state-of-the-art lectures during the plenary sessions will present recent breakthroughs in medical research relevant to the practice of nephrology.
