Newswise — Red Bank, NJ – May 11, 2016 – On Thursday, May 5, 2016, Riverview Medical Center hosted the annual Physician Recognition Dinner, which honored Edwin C. Leschhorn, M.D., Joseph F. Binns, M.D., and James D. Cameron, M.D. for their outstanding contributions to Riverview and patient care. Held at The Oyster Point Hotel, guests, which included members of the medical staff, Riverview team members, and the physician’s friends and families, enjoyed an awards presentation and dinner. “Physicians do extraordinary things on ordinary days throughout the year,” says Joseph Reichman, M.D., vice president of medical affairs and clinical effectiveness at Riverview. “This yearly event is a great way to recognize our wonderful physicians and specifically thank a few of them for their dedication to helping others both inside and outside of the hospital.”

Dr. Leschhorn has served as the department chair of pathology at Riverview for more than 15 years. Throughout his career, he has been credited with significant advances to the laboratory, the research and execution of new programs, reducing turnaround time for lab results, reducing the need for blood products, forward-thinking initiatives, and his responsiveness to the needs of every area of medicine within the hospital. Dr. Leschhorn completed both his medical residency and fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He resides in Eatontown.

Dr. Binns, a gastroenterologist is another long-time Riverview physician, with an office based in Red Bank, NJ. Recognized as a “Top Doctor” in New Jersey by “New Jersey Monthly,” Dr. Binns has been instrumental in developing Riverview’s outpatient endoscopic program. Throughout his time at the hospital he has managed the outpatient surgical suite, served as vice president of the Medical Executive Committee, and also chaired the Credentials Committee. Dr. Binns completed his medical residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and his fellowship at Graduate Hospital. He resides in Rumson.

Dr. Cameron, the director of the emergency department (ED) at Riverview is actively involved with the local communities surrounding the hospital, serving as the lead Emergency Medical Services (EMS) liaison. Since joining the ED team, he has also been vital in upgrading the services offered within the facility. He also serves as an executive committee member of the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Cameron completed his residency at Royal Victoria Hospital. He resides in Belmar.

“You couldn’t ask for three better physicians to honor,” says Dr. Reichman. “Each of these gentlemen is well-liked, compassionate, eager to serve their communities, and always looking for new ways to improve the patient experience.
