For journalists covering the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the following Johns Hopkins Carey Business School experts are available to comment on issues related to risk management, preparedness, community development, infrastructure, health, and finance: · James Calvin, PhD, is a professor whose work focuses on community economic development and nonprofit organizations. He is a co-editor and contributing author of the just-published Innovative Community Responses to Disaster (Routledge), which was inspired in part by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. · Paul Ferraro, PhD, is a professor whose expertise includes the design and evaluation of environmental policies and the institutions that implement those policies. He can address the interplay between so-called green, grey, and social infrastructure as a defense against future hurricanes, as well as the implications of Katrina and the subsequent policy responses for developing countries exposed to similar threats (for instance, Bangladesh).

· Chester Chambers, PhD, is an assistant professor who focuses on risk management. A native of Louisiana who has worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Chambers is the faculty director of the Carey Business School’s Master of Science program in enterprise risk management. He is also an associate faculty member at Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. · Toby Gordon, ScD, is an associate professor with expertise in health care policy, the management of hospitals and health systems, and technology commercialization. She also has appointments to the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Department of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. · Yuval Bar-Or, PhD, is an assistant professor with expertise in organizational preparedness, decision making, and corporate finance. He is the faculty director of executive development programs at the Carey School.
