Newswise — Internationally acclaimed artist Yong Jo Ji’s “Where Dreams Become,” presented at the Soho Arts Club, 76 Wooster Street, New York City , from Saturday June 6th through Thursday June 11th is a landmark show, featuring major new work while highlighting painting the artist made in collaboration with South Bronx Kids who are part of Health People’s Kids-Helping-Kids Mentoring Program.
The show can be viewed by the public from 6 to 9 p.m. on its opening Saturday June 6th; also on June Tuesday June 9th and on its closing Thursday June 11th from 6 to 9. At 7 o’clock on those days, a special gallery talk will feature Yong Jo Ji and the young mentors talking about their special collaboration. For private viewings, please call 773-817-8615.
Hailed by critics for paintings that “evoke a spirit of life and movement” and his “luscious, almost edible looking encaustic-and-oil paintings,” Yong Jo Ji, raised in Korea, has exhibited at galleries across the United States and in Asia.
In his groundbreaking work with Health People, Yong Jo Ji states he “is fulfilling a dream to make art work for kids who have an untapped spirit to raise our sense of possibility.” Partial proceeds of the show will go to support Health People’s unique mentoring program where older kids inspire and help younger kids. “We are very honored that Yong Jo Ji has chosen to benefit us with his beautiful show,” said Chris Norwood Executive Director of Health People. “More than that, he has worked with our kids in a very special way, teaching them to use art to focus on the future and the result in the featured painting in this show is magnificent.”
