The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) and the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) on Sept. 10, 2013, issued their Endometrial Cancer 2013 report noting that obesity is a cause of endometrial cancer. Gynecologic oncologists who treat women with endometrial cancer can add perspective to this report, which follows the American Medical Association’s declaration earlier this year that obesity is a disease.
September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology has three experts available to discuss the link between obesity and gynecologic cancer:
Dana M. Chase, MD, Assistant Professor, University of Arizona Cancer Center, St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center/Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Phoenix, AZ
Stephanie V. Blank, MD, Associate Professor of Gynecologic Oncology and Director, Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship, NYU School of Medicine, New York, NY
Leslie M. Randall, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics & Gynecology, UC Irvine Medical Center, Orange, CA
